Matt Pienkowski, an outgoing senior at East Meadow High School, was recognized this summer as a recipient of the SHIELD Award, granted by Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

Pienkowski joined with his peers from across Nassau County to meet District Attorney Singas in July as she commended students who made positive contributions to their respective communities.

“Our youth are our future and it is my pleasure to honor them,” Singas said.

The SHIELD award stands for service, honesty, integrity, excellence, leadership and duty and is presented to individuals who show outstanding strength of character, commitment to self-growth and the spirit and initiative to bring about a positive change in their community.
