— Tween Night Out

Long Beach AWARE, with the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation, is hosting Tween Night Out for Long Beach Middle School aged students on Friday, May 4 at 5:30 at the Long Beach Ice Arena, 150 W. — The Summer of Planets and Space Missions

The upcoming summer season will feature several evening planets in the sky with Mars at its best since 2003 and Saturn with its rings wide open to near maximum possible for great viewing. Attend “The Summer of Planets and Great Upcoming Space Missions Worldwide” with Larry Gerstman on Tuesday, May 8 at 2:15 p.m. at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 W. Park Ave.

— Hadassah Stem Cell Research Walk

Hadassah Medical Organization is making advances in Stem Cell Research. Any support helps Hadassah turn research into cures. Walk or run with the group on Sunday, May 6 at 9:45 a.m. on the Long Beach boardwalk starting at Laurelton Boulevard.

— Scenes from the Roaring Twenties

Enjoy some musical cabaret at Nassau County Museum of Art, when Angela Sclafani, “The Other Side of Paradise,” Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. This wild musical retelling of the relationship between Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald is part concert, part theater, part 1920s underground apartment party. It spans 40 years of history in one blazing and highly original performance. Reservations are required. — Stepping into spring

Sands Point Preserve welcomes everyone to a Spring Celebration, Sunday, May 6, 1-4 p.m. Explore the budding trees, shrubs, and perennial plants throughout the preserve’s many acres. Visitors are invited to help with plantings of colorful annuals, herbs and plants. Varied activities include workshops and a presentation on raptor conservation with an up-close look at rescued owls and hawks, along with bird feeder craft projects, and more.
