— Tasting by the Sea
The Ancient Order of the Hibernians Division 17 is hosting the 2nd annual Tasting by the Sea event from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 11 at the Long Beach Catholic Regional School, at 735 W. Broadway. Many local restaurants will participate, including the Beginnings, the Cabana, Speakeasy, Whale’s Tale, Blacksmith Breads, Lost at Sea, Grotta di Fuoco, Lily’s, Swingbelly’s, Mio Posto, Jetty, Long Beach Sandwich Company, Brixx & Barley, Buoy Bar, Mary’s Irish Shop, Corazon de Cuba and more. Microbreweries that are attending include Barrier Brewery, Bronx Brewery, Lagunitas and Austin East Ciders. Tickets are $40.
— Mother’s Day Boardwalk Craft Fair
The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a Mother’s Day Weekend Boardwalk Fair on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A group of vendors will provide crafted items and merchandise. For the first time, the chamber will limit the total number of vendors and only occupy the north side of the boardwalk to leave the south side open for sea-gazing and pedestrians, reducing the need to close the boardwalk and lessening the congestion.
—10th Annual Waterfront Warriors Fundraiser
The 10th annual fundraiser for the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors will be held on Monday, May 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lola’s, 180 W. Park Ave. The $50 admission includes open bar, appetizers, raffles, 50/50, a DJ and live music. All proceeds will provide a vacation week for marines, soldiers and their families during their trip to Long Beach this summer. For tickets, call (516) 375-5966.

A Celebrity Lecture by Charles Scribner III $30 Members, $40 Non-Members. Join Charles Scribner III for a talk about his family’s relationship with Fitzgerald and his own ties to “The Great Gatsby,” the definitive American novel of the past century.
