Posted

— Arts & Crafts Festival

The Arts & Crafts Festival will take place on Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the boardwalk between Long Beach and Edwards boulevards. The festival features more than 200 arts and crafts vendors specializing in everything from homemade candles, hand-crafted jewelry, wooden items, home decor to nautical paintings, photography and caricature portraits. There will also be food vendors offering international cuisine.

— Fireworks Extravaganza

The city will present its annual Fireworks Extravaganza at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 6 featuring food vendors on the boardwalk. At 8 p.m., the beach concert will begin. The bandwagon will be set up on Long Beach Boulevard beach. Get your spot on the boardwalk early or bring your beach chairs and set up on the beach. At dark, watch the highlight of the evening, a stunning fireworks display by Bay Fireworks.

— Fun in the Park: Spin Art

Family Fun in the Park returns! The program kicks off the city’s celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month, which encourages families to do something outside every day. The program will feature free fun activities for kids in rotating parks throughout town. Pack a lunch and make a day of it or just stop by. On Thursday, July 5, the fun will take place at Pacific Park at 10 a.m.

— Adventures in art

Explore artistic concepts with a family outing to Nassau County Museum of Art, on Sunday, July 8, 1-4 p.m. Take a docent-led walk-through of the current exhibition, “Anything Goes: The Jazz Age,” on its final day on view. The wild times and brilliant work of a tightly connected group of musicians, artists and writers during the 1920s come alive in the multimedia exhibition that combines art, literature and music. Kids can create art projects that draw inspiration from the varied works on view. Info: (516) 484-9338 or www.nassaumuseum.org.

—Goin’ back to the ‘80s

There’s no decade like the ‘80s, according to the popular band Jessie’s Girl. They return to Long Island, on Friday, July 6, at 8 p.m., with their tribute to that unforgettable decade of spandex and neon. It’s theater meets live music smothered in 80s glitz — from the heyday of Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, and so many more.
