—Fun in the Park: Bubbles Day

The Parks and Recreation Department hosts Family Fun in the Park, a program that celebrates National Parks and Recreation Month and encourages families to do something outside every day. The program will feature free fun activities for kids in rotating parks throughout town. Pack a lunch and make a day of it or just stop by. On Friday, July 20, the fun will take place at Clark Street Park at 10 a.m. and on Monday, July 23, make a crown at Georgia Park. On Tuesday, July 24, play with tie dye at the Recreation Center park.

—Summer Concert Series

On Thursday, July 19, enjoy a concert as part of the city’s free concert series. Wonderous Stories, a classic rock tribute band, will perform on Neptune Boulevard beach at 8 p.m. On Monday, July 23, Cold Spring Harbor, a Billy Joel tribute band, will perform on National Boulevard beach, and on Tuesday, July 24, the Doobie Others will perform on Edwards Boulevard beach. Don’t forget your beach chair!

—Temple Emanu-El Education Series

Temple Emanu-El of Long Beach invites the community to join a three-part adult education series called The Keys to Kabbalah: an Introduction to Jewish Mysticism. Rabbi Jack Zanerhaft will teach three stand-alone classes. Class 1 is The History of Mystery on June 27, Class 2 is Threads in the Kabbalah: No Red Strings Attached on July 25 and Class 3 is Why is the Zohar so Hard? on Aug. 29. Classes will be held at the temple, located at 455 Neptune Blvd., and tuition is free for temple members, $15 per class for non-members or $36 for the series of classes. —Swinging tunes for a summer’s eve

Step lively when Susan Pereira and Sabor Brasil visit Old Westbury Gardens, as part of its Picnic Pops series, on Wednesday, July 18, at 7 p.m. (gates open at 5 p.m., with dance lessons at 6:30 p.m.) Bring a lawn chair or blanket, even some friends feel the vibe as charismatic vocalist, pianist, percussionist, composer is joined by some of the top musicians on the New York Brazilian scene. They’ll provide the soundtrack for an enjoyable evening that may even get some folks up on their feet — or at least fingers snappin’ and toes tappin’. —Honoring the Roosevelt family

Step back in time at Sagamore Hill, Saturday, July 14, starting at 10 a.m. The presidential summer home hosts host a biplane flyover to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of President Theodore Roosevelt’s youngest son, Quentin. Aviators from the Bayport Aerodrome Society will fly the historic biplanes at 11 a.m. “Soldiers” from the World War I era also participate, along with period music d by Calliope Brass.
