Theresa Anselmo, of North Bellmore, dead at 79

It is with a heavy heart that Christine Anselmo-Engeldrum informs the community that her mother, Theresa Anselmo, died on March 13, at the age of 79.

Anselmo lived in North Bellmore with her family for nearly 60 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother and nurse who taught her children the importance of education, giving to others and perseverance in all walks of life. She put herself through nursing school for 13 years, part-time, while raising five children and never gave up on them or life until finally losing her long-term battle with diabetes and Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore Anselmo, her sister and family, Joan Cannizzo and her five daughters, Michele Anselmo, Louise Wald, Laurie Graham, Christine Engeldrum and Doreen Matheny, as well as four grandchildren.

She will be waked on Friday, March 17 at Bellmore Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 p.m. And 7 to 9 p.m.

Her mass will be held on Saturday, March 18, at St. Barnabas, 2320 Bedford Avenue, in Bellmore, at 9 a.m.
