Valley Stream Fire Department treats leaking propane tank

The Valley Stream Fire Department burned the contents of a propane tank on May 18 to stop it from leaking on Rose Avenue.

At around 2:15 p.m., the fire department received a phone call about a propane tank that was leaking on the corner of Rose Avenue and East Avenue. About 30 to 40 members of the fire department responded to the call, according to First Assistant Chief Jason Croak. The members then contained the leak by setting the propane tank on fire and burning out the remaining gas.

The leak was contained within an hour and no one was injured, Croak said.
