Mostly Cloudy Valley Stream firefighters respond to gas main break

Engine Companies 342 and 342 as well as Ladder 345 responded to a gas main break on Fairview Avenue on July 7.

Valley Stream firefighters, under the command of Chief James Ervolino, responded to a reported gas main break at a home on Fairview Avenue just before 3 p.m. on July 7.
The gas main broke when the homeowner was planting a new bush. No fire occurred.
Engine Company 342 took the hydrant up the block and stretched a hose line to the house in case of a gas explosion. Engine Company 343 and Ladder 345 also responded to the scene, and National Grid responded to repair the gas line.
