American Legion Post 854 began its Memorial Day service ahead of time, with a commemoration at the Legion Hall on Roosevelt Avenue Sunday morning, followed by a service at the Brooklyn Avenue School.
The Central High School Alumni Scholarship Foundation hosted its annual Memorial Day service last Saturday outside the school. Alumni gathered to honor those graduates of the school who have lost their lives in war.
Boy Scouts from Troop 109 visited Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead, the Rockville Centre Cemetery and the Trinity Church Cemetery in Hewlett to place American flags at the grave sites of veterans.
