Vote BOE incumbents in Bellmore; Lanci and Casucci in North Bellmore

The Herald urges Bellmore Elementary School District residents to show their support for incumbent Board of Education trustees Marion Blane and Brian Desmond, who are running unopposed for re-election this year.

Blane is a 15-year board veteran, who also has a history of involvement in the PTA, and has lived in the community for 33 years. Desmond, meanwhile, is a Kennedy graduate and a phys. ed. teacher who has also lived in Bellmore all his life. These dedicated volunteers deserve voters’ support.

In North Bellmore, we encourage voters to re-elect Nina Lanci. Lanci, who has lived in the community for 28 years, is knowledgeable about the district’s finances and realistic about its challenges. Voters should give her another term.

We also like Tara Casucci for the second open seat. Casucci has a daughter who attends Newbridge Road Elementary, and has years of experience in Nassau County schools. We were impressed by her stated commitment to transparency and communication between the board and parents.

Jeannie Shipman, a second challenger, did not respond to our requests for a biography.
