Wantagh FD contains early morning house blaze

The Wantagh FD responded to a house fire at 2857 Morgan Drive Wantagh at 6:37 a.m. on April 16, 2018 and brought it under control in about an hour. There were no injuries reported.

First Assistant Chief Ken Kelly was first to arrive on scene and saw flames came out the left side and rear of the house as well as downed wires nearby. Engine Two arrived first, hooked up to a hydrant and stretched the first hose line into the house. Engine Seven arrived simultaneously and stretched a second hose line.

Both the Levittown and Bethpage Fire Departments also responded to the fire and there were approximately 75 firefighters and medics on scene throughout the operation. Firefighters remained on scene for another hour conducting overhaul and extinguishing hot spots. The fire caused extensive damage to the home and the cause and origin is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office.
