Ex-Chief came upon the scene at 2am on Sunday

An ex-Wantagh Fire Chief came upon a car on fire at about 2:10 am on Sunday September 9, on The Wantagh Parkway at Merrick Road.

Ex-Chief Jim Bloomfield called on Northbound Engines 3 and 8, which responded and extinguished the blaze under the command of 2nd Assistant Chief Tom Bloomfield, according to Kevin Regan, spokesman for the WFD.

Al units were back in service in about 45 minutes. The driver of the vehicle suffered an injury and was treated by NCPD Ambulance personnel.
