Wantagh-Seaford Girl Scouts honored

Posted

More than 120 local children and teens were honored at the Wantagh Seaford Girl Scout Association awards ceremony on June 25.

The ceremony was held at St. Frances de Chantal Church to honor junior, cadette and senior Girl Scouts who have earned their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, respectively. Graduating high school seniors from Wantagh and Seaford were also commended.

Leaders of the association said that all of the girls demonstrated enormous dedication to community service. Locally elected officials and civic organization members also applauded them.

This year, Ruth Sobey, Ashley Soliwoda, Lauren Rosenberg, Alessia Russo and Grace Anne McKenna eared Gold Awards — the highest honor in the Girl Scout program. Their community service work ranged from promoting literacy to water safety.
