Woodmere resident Allen Fagin served on New York State Attorney General's transition team

Allen Fagin, of Woodmere, who is the executive vice president of the Orthodox Union and the former chairman of Proskauer Rose LLP, is one of 36 people on New York Attorney General Letitia James’ transition committee. James was sworn in on Dec. 31

Fagin, involved with the Orthodox Union since the 1990s, began practicing law in 1976 and specialized in employment law. The Orthodox Union serves as the voice of American Orthodox Jewry has more than 400 congregation in its network. In his time as Proskauer’s chairman — 2005 to 2011 — the Manhattan-based firm expanded to more 750 lawyers and roughly 1,500 employees and opened offices in Chicago, Hong Kong, London and Sao Paulo. He has been in his current post more than four and a half years.

A graduate of Yeshivat Ramaz in New York City; Columbia College (1971); Harvard Law School and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, he received a law degree and a master’ degree in public policy, both in 1975. He then served as a law clerk to the Hon. Robert L. Carter, U.S. District Judge in the Southern District of New York.
