Just this past week, as I was sitting in my office, a man knocked on the door. He introduced himself and wanted to sell the synagogue some office supplies from the company he represented. After we finished our business, we got talking and it turned out that he is Jewish.

Valley Stream lights up for Hanukkah

The village held its annual Menorah lighting ceremony Tuesday evening at Valley Stream Station Plaza. Rabbi Yitzchak Goldshmid from the Chabad Outreach Center joined Mayor Ed Fare in the bucket of a Valley Stream fire truck to light the candle for the first night of the Jewish Festival of Lights, which began that day at sundown.
