Born in El Salvador, Sandra Shanhai came to this country when she was just 7 years old. As an immigrant, she did not know the English language, she said. What she also did not know was that several years later, she would be in the top post at Valley Stream Christian Academy.

A 'wild' fundraiser in Valley Stream

The Valley Stream Christian Academy held its annual fundraiser on April 1. The auction had a wild west theme. Money raised will be used to support the school and various charities.

Bidders give Valley Stream school a boost

Going once.... going twice... sold. That was heard often at the Valley Stream Christian Academy’s annual auction last Friday night. Proceeds were raised for the school, which is part of the Bethlehem Assembly of God on Fairview Avenue.
