Eight Valley Streamers ran in election; two races featured locals facing off

This year’s local elections were especially local for Valley Stream: eight residents ran campaigns, with six emerging victorious.

Village Justice Bob Bogle was one of three people elected to Nassau County Court judgeships, getting the most votes of the six candidates, with a total of 93,137.

Former Valley Stream mayor and incumbent 2nd District Court Judge James Darcy was re-elected to his seat with 57 percent of ballots cast, to his challenger’s 43 percent.

The race for the Nassau County Legislature’s 3rd District seat was a landslide victory for incumbent and Valley Stream resident Carrie Solages, who beat challenger and fellow village resident Felix Quayson, as well as Green Party candidate Seth Hirsh.

Hempstead Town Councilmen Bruce Blakeman and Ed Ambrosino were both re-elected. Blakeman lives in the incorporated village and Ambrosino lives in North Valley Stream. Blakeman beat challenger and fellow village resident Milagros Vicente with 62 percent to Vicente’s 38 percent of votes cast.

Valley Streamer Donald X. Clavin was re-elected as the Town of Hempstead’s receiver of taxes, beating Democratic challenger Dino Amoroso with 64 percent of ballots cast.
