An eggs-tra early start to Easter in Valley Stream

Posted

The east side of Hendrickson Park was covered by thousands of colorful plastic eggs for the Valley Stream Recreation Department’s annual Easter egg hunt last Saturday morning.

Even with the holiday two weeks away, it still drew about 250 children to the two sessions. The weather was sunny, but cool and breezy. “I think more people would have come out if it was not quite as windy,” Recreation Director Tom Roberts said.

Those who did come on April 5, he noted, had a great time. Finders of gold and silver eggs received chocolate Easter bunnies donated by the Elks Club. Two much larger and far less edible Easter bunnies were there to greet children. Teens from the Youth Council also helped out.
