Article contained inaccuracy

To the Editor:

I am writing to articulate the following correction to the article “Training the senses for learning” (March 13-19).

The statement regarding factors that prevent children from focusing and learning indicated that neurological disorders have to be handled by doctors. Neurological disorders have to be diagnosed by doctors, but the manifestations of all types of disorders, as they impede the learning process, are treated by occupational and physical therapists, regardless of the type. OT’s and PT’s rely on medical doctors to make medical diagnoses of these disorders.

I sincerely appreciate the article and what it introduced to the community regarding learning difficulties and therapists’ work at Forest Road School.
