A man armed with a knife robbed a North Central Avenue beauty supply store yesterday, in a crime that fit the pattern of six robberies of businesses around Valley Stream earlier this year.

A suspect with a large kitchen knife entered Select Beauty Supply, at 297 N. Central Ave., at 12:40 p.m., Nassau County Police said. He opened the cash register and removed an undisclosed amount of cash, then fled on foot eastbound on Fritchie Place.

There were two employees and one customer in the store, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a black male, 6-foot-2 with a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.

The last incident occurred at Crescent Pharmacy, on Central Court, on April 7. Police believe the suspect in that robbery was the same man who robbed five other local businesses between Feb. 9 and March 20. One person, an employee of one of the businesses, suffered a laceration to his hand during one of the robberies. No other injuries were reported.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
