It's a Wonderful Life

Film historian Sal St. George will host a lecture revealing the story behind how the 1946 classic holiday film “It’s a Wonderful Life” was made. St. George will discuss the actors originally considered to star in the movie and the public’s reaction to what has become an iconic film. The event takes place on Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Elmont Memorial Library and will be followed by a showing of the movie in the theatre at 2:30 p.m.

Defensive driving course

The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, located at 201 N. Central Ave., will host a defensive driving class on Dec. 10 at 8:45 a.m. The class will reduce auto premiums for participants by 10 percent and costs $40. To register, call (516) 872-8062.

Holiday dance

Help ring in the holidays by busting a move at the Elmont Memorial Library during the annual holiday dance on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. The event will be hosted by Joe Cassano and light refreshments will be served.
