Dorothy Walz: striving to make Valley Stream better
(Page 4 of 4)
Susan Grieco/Herald
Dorothy Walz has been a member of the Valley Stream Civilian Patrol for 14 years.
While some residents have complained about the changes that have taken place in Valley Stream over the years, Walz has embraced them. She said she loves the community’s mix of residents of all backgrounds. Her neighbors on one side are from Haiti, and on the other side are Filipinos. She considers them all friends. “I’m thrilled with Valley Stream,” she said of its diversity.

If people want the village to remain a good place to live and raise a family, she said, they need to take an active role in the community. That has been her philosophy throughout her nearly five decades in the village.

“I’m very proud of Dottie and her efforts in the community,” Fare said. “She is one of those people who tries to make Valley Stream a better place.”
