‘What the Moon Saw’
Puppeteer Sarah Frechette remixes Hans Christian Andersen’s “Thumbelina” with “The Ugly Duckling” to tell the story of two misfit characters who join forces to outwit their meddlesome nocturnal adversaries in this original theater piece. Travel deep beyond the forest, to a land never seen before, where life is guided by the mystical moon — a land inspired by the Andersen’s many beloved tales. Follow a duckling through a world where nature is unpredictable and not every creature is good. Watch as a foolish frog, a sly clever Ms. Mouse and a pompous Mr. Mole distract the ducklings in the search for a true friend. Come see what the moon saw when the petals of a flower opened to reveal an incredible journey.
Thursday and Friday, Aug. 28-29, 11:30 and 2 p.m. For ages 3 and up. $5 with museum admission ($4 members), $10 theater only. Long Island Children’s Museum, Museum Row, Garden City. (516) 224-5800 or www.licm.org.
