Home invasion in Valley Stream's west end

Nassau County Police are investigating the gunpoint robbery of a home in the west end of Valley Stream on Thursday afternoon and are seeking two suspects.

According to police, a 53-year-old man answered the front door of his Cumberland Place home at 12:55 p.m. on Jan. 30 and was confronted by two unknown men. They forced their way inside the home, and the homeowner and his 21-year-old daughter were placed faced down on the floor in the den.

While one of the robbers held the two victims hostage at gunpoint, the other ransacked the home, stealing various items including cash and jewelry. The robbers then handcuffed the victims to an oil tank in the basement and fled in an unknown direction.

The first suspect is described as a black man, 5-foot-11, 230 pounds wearing a mask and armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The second suspect is described as a black man, 5-foot-11, 170 pound. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS.
