An instructional Medicare seminar for seniors will be held on Monday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library in Valley Stream.

Marie Cantone, a licensed insurance professional, will be the keynote speaker. She also helped organize the event, in partnership with Franklin Hospital, Lynbrook Restorative Therapy and Nursing and Assemblyman Brian Curran (R-Lynbrook).

“How many times have you or someone you know been frustrated with a service or the information given to you?” Curran said. “That’s what this seminar is about — cutting through the confusion and presenting important health information in a format that seniors can use to their advantage. It is so important that our seniors understand the Medicare process and everything related to it.

“We want what is best for our family members, and I want to thank Marie Cantone, Lynbrook Restorative Therapy and Nursing and Franklin General for all their help putting this seminar together. We are all looking forward to helping and guiding our seniors through this information.”

Attendees will review the basics of Medicare, supplementary insurance, advantage plans, prescription drug plans, “donut” hole, eligibility requirements and enrollment windows.

Administrator Steven A. Rohinsky, of Lynbrook Restorative Therapy and Nursing, said, “It is initiatives like this that empower hundreds of seniors in the South Shore community to maintain independence and improve their lives.”
