Local teen’s game show stint ends

Valley Stream resident Joe Taglic’s “Jeopardy!” run came to an end in a semifinal episode that aired July 29.

“It was probably some of the most fun I’ve ever had,” the 17-year-old said of the experience.

Taglic, who graduated in June from Regis High School in Manhattan and will attend MIT in the fall, earned $10,000 for advancing to the semifinals of the “Jeopardy!” Teen Tournament. He won a wildcard spot in the previous episode, all of which were filmed in March in California.

Although he’s known the outcome for months, the show’s rules didn’t permit Taglic to speak about any details until they aired, keeping his friends and classmates watching and waiting in excited anticipation.

Taglic plans to study mechanical engineering or computer science when he begins classes at MIT in September.
