Arrest made in North Valley Stream double shooting

One man is dead another was wounded in a shooting in a North Valley Stream neighborhood on Monday evening. A Queens man has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Nassau County Police responded to 18 Charles St. in the Alden Terrace section at about 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 after receiving calls about shots in the area. Officers found a 21-year-old man, identified as Benjamin Palemon, of North Valley Stream, laying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital and was pronounced dead by doctors at 6:40 p.m.

A second man was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The 22-year-old victim was taken to the hospital where he was listed in guarded condition.

On Tuesday, police arrested 23-year-old Joshua Geddes, of 109 th Avenue in Queens Village. He is being charged with second-degree murder and violation of parole, and was arraigned later in the day in First District Court.

Police have not released the names of the second victim, and have not released a motive for the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
