Marietta Capizzi dies at 112

Marietta Capizzi, formerly of Valley Stream, died on Nov. 10 at the age of 112.

Capizzi was born on Jan. 29, 1901, in Italy. She moved to the United States when she was 18, and was one of 18 children. She resided at the Sunrise Living facility in Glen Cove, and lived in Valley Stream for 30 years, where she belonged to the Green Acres Senior Center.

She and her husband, Frank, were married for 73 years and they owned a candy store in Brooklyn. He predeceased her in 1995 at the age of 99.

Survivors include her son Peter, daughter-in-law Eleanor, grandchildren Marie Lane, Roseann Kalb and Christine Burns, eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by son Anthony, daughter-in-law Marie, and grandchildren Frank Capizzi and Maryanne Viscomi.

A funeral mass was held on Nov. 14 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Brookville. She was interred at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
