The time spent soliciting feedback meant that the idea didn’t come to the Board of Education for a vote until December. That left Valley Stream with few options in terms of venues and time slots, since many districts book graduations ceremonies a year or more in advance. Heidenreich said that the decision needs to made earlier, to give the district more flexibility in 2014. He expects that to be a topic of discussion at the school board’s next meeting on July 9.
