Elliott Rosenbaum, a local attorney and active member of the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce, died on June 24. He was 74.

Rosenbaum was born on April 25, 1941. He grew up in Great Neck, graduated from the University of Vermont in 1962, and earned a graduate degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1965.

“He prided himself in having an honest reputation,” said his daughter, Toni Rosenbaum. She said he lived by an ethos of “do the right thing,” and was a “really involved” father. When she and her brother, Troy, were young, their father would take them on “daddy days” on Saturdays, when they would spend the day together doing some activity.

Rosenbaum was an avid tennis player, and played with friend and fellow chamber member Jules Rabin for 41 years. “He was always respected by his clients and everyone else,” Rabin said.

Rosenbaum was executive vice president of the chamber for more than a decade, and served as its legal representative. He was instrumental in drafting the organization’s constitution, and was later involved in amending it.

Rosenbaum is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Toni; son, Troy; sister, Iris Warren; and niece Dena Leister and husband Larry.
