The Valley Stream Council of PTAs held its Legislative Breakfast on March 14 at Memorial Junior High School, where a number of dignitaries dined with residents and students as part of the annual community outreach event.

“The event unites our legislators and school district leaders with the community, and allows for valuable, open dialogue about our schools, students and the future of education,” said Valley Stream Central High School District Superintendent of Schools Bill Heidenreich. “It also allows for input for members of the Valley Stream Boards of Education, who are and will continue to be committed to identifying solutions to improve education in order to better educational experiences for all students.”

The officials in attendance were Valley Stream Mayor Ed Fare, Town of Hempstead Councilmen Edward Ambrosino and Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County Legislator Carrie Solages, New York Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, New York Assemblyman Brian Curran, New York State Senator Dean Skelos, U.S. Congressman Gregory Meeks and a representative from U.S. Congresswoman Kathleen Rice’s office. School officials from each of Valley Stream’s four school districts also attended.

A continental breakfast was provided by the Valley Stream Central High School District Culinary Institute.
