Slyvan Place holds Christmas block party

Posted

Neighbors and friends gathered on Sylvan Place on December 20 for the street’s annual holiday block party, complete with a visit from Santa and a local fire truck.

Girl Scout Troop 2029 collected toys for the Ronald McDonald House charity, a tradition they started seven years ago, according to Scout leader Elizabeth Fogarty.

“This has become not only a favorite tradition of the girls, but to all the kids at the block party,” she said. “The wonderful volunteers from Engine 342 give up their Saturday night to come and collect the toys and allow all the kids a chance to sit in a fire truck, and the parents to take pictures.”

Fogarty said the toy drive expanded over the years to include Troops 2011 and 3246, and now includes all of Robert Carbonaro School’s student body.
