Police are searching for a man that robbed a store on North Central Avenue last Saturday.

A male employee at Charlene’s Stationary saw the suspect walk into the store at 8:40 a.m. wearing gloves and a covering over his face, police said. The suspect walked behind the counter towards the register, and the employee left the store through a back door and called police.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash from the register and fled north on North Central Avenue on a bicycle, according to police. He was described as black and six feet tall with a medium build, and was wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black and white sneakers, a scarf covering his face and clear gloves.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the incident is not being considered part of the pattern of knifepoint robberies that have occurred in the village and in neighboring communities since February, including a robbery at North Central Liquors in March, two doors down from Charlene’s Stationary.
