Posted

The Valley Stream Central High School District awarded scholarships in March to three student musicians who were selected for excelling throughout their high school music careers.

Adrianna Kapusta, of North High School, Maria Fredericks, of South High School, and Madeline Grunin, of Central High School, received the awards at the District Music Festival at Central High School’s Keller Auditorium on March 13. The Valley Stream PTA and PTSA Council, in conjunction with the district’s music department, sponsored the event. It is in its fifty-eighth year.

The festival featured concert performances by orchestra, chorus and band students from all three schools. Conductor Tara Zamorano led the symphonic orchestra, Adam Thorn led the mixed chorus and Adam Erdos conducted the concert band.

The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the festival’s ticket sales.
