A suspect who Nassau County police believe to be in his teens is wanted for assaulting a 15-year-old boy on Park Drive on Thursday and taking cash.

The victim was walking home from North High School near the creek bed on Park Drive at 3:20 p.m. when he walked past a person sitting on a bench. That person then approached him from behind and demanded his cell phone as he struck the victim on the back of the head with a BB gun.

The suspect attempted to remove property from the victim’s pockets, police said, and a struggle ensued. The victim was able to get control of the BB gun, a Marksman repeater model. The suspect fled, having taken $1 from the victim.

The victim suffered abrasions to his face, neck and arm but refused medical attention, police said.

The suspect was described as a white Hispanic male between the ages of 16 and 18, about 150 pounds with a thin build and has short brown or black hair with a possible scar or shaved spot on his right eyebrow. He was wearing tan shorts and a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Detectives ask that anyone with information regarding this crime contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
