Taxi driver robbed at knifepoint

Posted

Nassau County police are looking for a man who they said used a knife to rob a taxi driver near the Green Acres Mall on Nov. 17.

The 37-year-old driver picked up a fare on 145th Street in Queens. The customer, described as a black man in his mid-20’s, asked to be taken to Flower Road behind the mall. When they arrived, the man told the driver to continue onto Bittersweet Lane and drive to the end of the road. The man then brandished a knife, “placed it up to the victim’s shoulder” and demanded money, police said. The driver handed the man $100, and the suspect got out of the car and fled on foot through the dead end.

The driver was not injured. He described the suspect as having a dark complexion and a thin build, and wearing a hoodie.

Police asked that anyone with information about the incident call (800) 244-TIPS.
