“Rocky” revisited

The Elmont Library is hosting a presentation about the history of the classic film “Rocky,” on Friday, June 24 at 12:30 p.m. Learn about how a movie that almost didn’t get made became the biggest hit of 1976 and went on to be a billion-dollar franchise. There will also be a special viewing of “Creed,” at 2:30 p.m.

Fourth annual District 13 golf outing

The Valley Stream District 13 Education Foundation is sponsoring its fourth annual Lido Golf Club outing on Tuesday, June 28 beginning at 11 a.m. The $150 fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch and dinner (For dinner only, the cost is $50). Town Park Point Lookout is the scene for some summertime tunes, as the Town of Hempstead celebrates Independence Day with its annual festivities, beginning with a salute to veterans, Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a tribute to Abba and the Bee Gees with Abbamania and Night Fever, followed by fireworks.
