Trophies all around at Baseball League ceremony

While the Major League Baseball season is just past the All-Star break, the Valley Stream Baseball League has wrapped up its playoffs and children are enjoying their own break until fall sports get under way.

Players from the Baseball League’s Sluggers, Sandlot and Rivera divisions received their trophies on July 26 during a ceremony at Firemen’s Field. All kids also received a copy of the league’s 2014 yearbook featuring team pictures. It was the first time it has published a yearbook.

The Valley Stream Herald, which published scores, game notes and photos throughout the season, presented the Baseball League with a $5,000 donation, which was accepted by league President Bob Inzerillo.

The title teams from the Wright and Jeter divisions will be honored at the league’s Championship dinner in September, where all the coaches will also be recognized.
