A year ago, South High made history by capturing a county championship in boys’ basketball for the first time. Twelve months later, after a 47-42 victory over a stubborn Roslyn five last Saturday evening, the Falcons are in position to secure a second straight title.

Junior center Hall Elisias scored 22 points, pulled down 18 rebounds, and blocked eight shots to lead No. 7 South to the win in a Nassau Class A semifinal played at the Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on the campus of Hofstra University. Dana King added 11 points. No. 11 Roslyn, which finished with a record of 13-6, got 19 points from Keandre Augustine.

The Falcons will take on No. 16 Floral Park (14-7) at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Hofstra in the title game. The Knights advanced to the finals with a 47-42 victory over Carey in the earlier semifinal.
