Valley Stream South outlasts Lynbrook in OT
(Page 2 of 2)
The buzzer beater was all the magic Lynbrook could muster however as Valley Stream South started overtime with a 6-0 run led by Dana King, who played through visible injury to contribute 15 points, many of which came in the extra period.
The Falcons’ comeback was largely due to their stiffening defense in the second quarter where, led by the perimeter stinginess of Nnamdi Nwalgwe (14 points) and the rebounding of Demetri Badette, they were able to hold Lynbrook to just four points, closing the gap from 11 to two.
The game was back and forth all night with key plays made by both teams down the stretch. Lynbrook’s Zach Weiss fought hard under the rim the entire game and Anthony Mackie flew around the court, making plays on both ends.
“I thought we did enough to win,” Rube said of his team’s effort. “They played hard and battled but it just didn’t end up that way.”
