Posted

Masjid Hamza, the Islamic Center of the South Shore, hosted its third annual spring fair last Saturday at its grounds on Stuart Avenue in North Valley Stream. Nazia Khan, one of the event’s organizers, said the purpose is to share the culture of the South Asian people, a growing population in the Valley Stream area.

There were numerous activities for children including a bounce castle, basketball, water slide and balloon animals. Hempstead Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad and her staff were on hand to provide free child identification kits.

Guests were able to get a taste of South Asia with food from India and Pakistan. There were numerous boutiques featuring traditional clothing, toys, games and religious items. Throughout the day, a few hundred people attended the fair.
