Valley Streamer awarded scholarship

College became more affordable for a member of Valley Stream’s Class of 2014 who is currently studying at the State University of New York at Oswego.

Kimberly A. Smith, a freshman at SUNY Oswego, received a Presidential Scholarship of $18,800 from the university. The award recognizes past academic achievement and potential for future success. Students receiving this scholarship must graduate high school with a grade average of 94 and an average SAT score of 1240.

SUNY Oswego was ranked among the top public universities for the North region in 2014 by the U.S. News Media Group. It was also named one of “The Best Northeastern Colleges” and one of the “best value” colleges and universities in the nation by the Princeton Review.
