Homes.com a website that provides information for buying and selling of real estate nationwide has named Valley Stream as one of the top six suburbs in the country ideal for members of Generation Z — who were born sometime during the mid to late 90s — to buy a home.

Looking at factors such as diversity, accessibility, safety and affordability, which Generation Z members surveyed cited as their chief concerns while considering homeownership, the site ranked Valley Stream among other neighborhoods such as Stafford, Texas; Glendale Heights, Ill.; Shaker Heights, Ohio; Florin, Calif.; and Lilburn, Ga.

Homes.com noted the neighborhood’s proximity to New York City, and an “urban feel” as well as a low crime rate and its minority-majority population as huge pluses. Additionally, it noted that the median household income is roughly $100,00, and median home values are around $400,000, $50,000 lower than the median for the Island.
