Lakeview man and brother arrested for Valley Stream homicide

Police said that two brothers were arrested on Sunday in connection with the fatal shooting of a Hempstead man on March 13 outside Sonny O’s Pub in Valley Stream.

According to police, Mickey Corley, 37, of Lakeview, and his brother Christopher Corley, 40, of Nyack, were arrested in Nyack. Mickey Corley was charged with second-degree murder, and Christopher Corley was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution.

Shaleek Jenkins, 35, was shot and killed at about 4:05 a.m. outside the pub, at 269 West Merrick Road, police said. Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded to the scene and rushed Jenkins to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, where he was pronounced dead at 5:10 a.m. by hospital staff.

The brothers were due to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, after the Herald went to press.
