Copiague man found with gun in car in Valley Stream

Daimon Edwards, 37, of Copiague, was arrested on Feb. 6 at 8:15 p.m. after police found him drinking in an illegally parked car with a handgun.

According to Nassau County police, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team officers were on patrol in the area when they observed a 2003 Lincoln parked more than 12 inches from the curb. Officers also noticed that the driver was drinking an alcoholic beverage. The police then started to investigate Edwards’ conduct, and found a handgun located between him and the vehicle’s center console. Edwards was then removed from the car and was arrested without incident.

Edwards is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and parked more than 12 inches from the curb. He will be arraigned on Feb. 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.
