Program robots at the library
Teenagers in sixth- through 12th -grade can program Ozobots at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library on March 9, at 6 p.m. Registration is required with preference given to Valley Stream library cardholders.
The Valley Stream Council of Parent Teachers’ Associations will be holding their annual legislative breakfast on March 10, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. There will be a continental breakfast prepared by the Central High School District Culinary Arts students followed by a moderated question and answer period with local legislators about education policy.
St. Patrick’s Day story and craft
Children in kindergarten through sixth-grade can listen to a St. Patrick’s Day story and make a holiday-themed craft at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library on March 14, at 4 p.m. Registration is required, with preference given to Valley Stream library cardholders.
Sketching the galleries
Immerse yourself in art and explore your creative side, at Heckscher Museum of Art, Sunday, Jan. 11, 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. This session is not about the final result but rather taking the time to look closely at works of art in the galleries to get a better understanding of the artist at work. An evening with ‘Chess’
A cast of Broadway performers stages a pops concert version of “Chess,” the Tim Rice/ABBA rock opera set during the 1980s Cold War, at the Madison Theatre, on the Molloy College campus, on Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. The cast includes Molloy Cap21 Theatre Arts students, accompanies by the South Shore Symphony.
