A 17-year-old Queens teen was arrested on Oct. 25, police said, for driving a stolen car and resisting arrest.

Police said officers saw a 1998 Lexus GS400 traveling on West Merrick Road near Ormonde Boulevard in Valley Stream with its lights off, and signaled the driver to pull over. After a brief chase, the driver stopped the car on 135th Avenue at the intersection of 246th Street in Rosedale, Queens.

Police later determined that the Lexus was reported stolen on Oct. 16 in the 106th Precinct in New York City.

As police attempted to arrest the driver, Matthew Felix, 17, of Rosedale, Queens, he ran away from officers through multiple backyards, police said, evading them. Felix was later located by a K-9 unit in a backyard on 246th Street and arrested at about 11:25 p.m.

During the initial foot pursuit, one officer injured his knee and hand, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Felix was charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and three vehicle and traffic law violations. He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court on Oct. 26.
