Police: Man shot during home invasion

Police said a 61-year-old man was shot early Wednesday morning in a struggle after multiple suspects armed with handguns ambushed him and two others in their S Street home near Elmont’s border with North Valley Stream.

The suspects “forcefully entered” the side door of the residence at about 2:08 a.m., police said, and confronted three men — ages 61, 31 and 25 — on the second floor.

After the suspects demanded property from the victims, police said, there was a struggle, and a round was fired which injured the 61-year-old.

The suspects fled the scene with jewelry from the home. Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. It was not clear if the home was targeted, and police did not provide descriptions of the suspects.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-8477. All calls will remain confidential.
