Police: Skeletal remains found off Southern State Parkway

State police are reporting the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area near the Southern State Parkway by the border of Franklin Square and Valley Stream.

Troopers said in a statement on Feb. 4 that they were notified of the remains at around 2:24 p.m. that day, and that investigators from the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation as well as the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s Office were on the scene. The remains were found near Exit 15 South on the eastbound side of the parkway, and investigators said that they have so far found no signs of foul play.
