Queens man arrested in Valley Stream narcotics bust

A Queens man was arrested in Valley Stream on Saturday for intent to sell heroin and cocaine, according to Nassau County police.

Narcotics detectives said they had been investigating Steven Washington, 32, of Springfield Gardens, Queens, for his part in a “serious overdose in Nassau County” and for possessing heroin with the intent to sell in Valley Stream.

According to a news release, police said they found Washington sitting in his car near Mill Road in Valley Stream on Saturday at about 4:55 p.m. The detectives displayed their badges and gave Washington several verbal commands, which he complied with. Washington then handed over 24 bags of heroin and 13 bags of crack cocaine and was placed into police custody without incident, police said.

Washington was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
